The Snatch Game

I am sure you will agree – children LOVE to play but need to learn.

If we could convert leaning to playing, your children will love to “plarn” (Play and Learn).

Let's say we want to teach the child multiplication. You prepare series of small cards with numbers – let’s say we prepared cards with 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22.

Now… you spread the cards on the table.

The parent and the child are sitting on their own hands.

The parent throws a question – for example 2x3 and if the child does not snatch the card, the parent snatches the card.

We continue until all the cards are finished - whoever snatched the most cards wins.

TIPS for Playing the Game:

Let your child win… give him more time at the beginning and shorten the time as he becomes better.

As soon as the child goes for the snatch – show an effort to snatch the card.

Acknowledge your child – tell him how good he is.

Play until the child snatches all the cards and fast.

If one of you picked the wrong card, the card goes to the other side.

You can give wrong numbers for example 7x7 when we don’t have a 49 as a card.

You can play with more than one child.

Once the child does it for few times, change roles - the child throws out the questions.

You can use this game to drill anything – new words, new language, anything…

Enjoy it…

And let me know how it is going or if you have any questions.

Much Love,
